About me
Serena Hagerty is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. Her research examines how consumers expect firms—and one another—to navigate contentious socio-political issues, with a particular focus on economic inequality and political polarization. Her work has been published in leading academic journals, including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and the Journal of Consumer Research.
Professor Hagerty joined the faculty at Darden 4 years ago. She teaches in the core marketing curriculum for the full-time MBA program and leads a second-year elective, Marketing and Society. Before coming to Darden, Professor Hagerty received a B.A. in Psychology and Economics from Harvard College and a Ph.D. in Marketing from Harvard Business School, where she also completed a fellowship at the Harvard Kennedy School in Inequality and Wealth Concentration.
