About me
Meg Heubeck currently serves as the Director of Instruction at the University of Virginia Center for Politics. In this role Meg is responsible for providing educational materials for Youth Leadership (YL) and the Global Perspectives on Democracy (GPD) programs. This includes creating educational materials, managing simulations and leading instruction in leadership and civic engagement for teachers, youth and international visitors. She has assisted the Virginia Civics Commission with presentations on civil discourse, media literacy, policy creation and more. For the past five years she has been the instructor for the Sorensen Institute for Civic Leadership (UVA) and its High School Leaders program.
Meg has travelled to Sri Lanka and Afghanistan on behalf of the GPD program to follow up and deliver civic engagement curriculum for the United States Department of State. She has created and implemented civic engagement curriculum for over forty international exchanges for youth, university students, and adult professionals. Youth Leadership Initiative (YL) is the primary responsibility of Meg Heubeck. In 2013 she received a Masters degree in Instructional Design at the University of Virginia. Meg administrates and manages the programs of YL including the annual Mock Election, E-Congress, and Democracy Corps. Over seventy-thousand teachers use the resources of the Youth Leadership Initiative.
