About me
Keoni Vega is a student leader at the University of Virginia, where he is pursuing a B.A. in American Politics as an Echols Scholar. Originally from South Texas, Vega has built a record of student leadership on campus while gaining experience in government, politics, and public service.
Vega currently serves as President of the University of Virginia’s Class of 2026, representing more than 4,300 students and leading a council of 70 student representatives. A four-time class president, he has spent much of his college career working to strengthen student life, organize major campus traditions, and connect students more directly with university leadership. He is also a Lawn resident, living in the University’s historic Academical Village.
Vega also spends significant time mentoring and supporting the next generation of student leaders at UVA, regularly working with younger class presidents and helping guide student governance on Grounds. He served on the search committee for the University’s next Vice President for Student Affairs and on the 2026–2027 Lawn Selection Committee.
Alongside his campus leadership, Vega has pursued experience in national politics and public service. He has worked in Washington, D.C., including time with House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and the Export-Import Bank of the United States, and has been extensively involved with Larry Sabato’s University of Virginia Center for Politics. He was also selected as a Student Design Fellow with Campus Compact, one of only eight students nationwide chosen for the two-year fellowship focused on advancing civic leadership on college campuses.
Vega is currently working on a congressional campaign in Virginia for former U.S. Representative Tom Perriello. After graduating from UVA in May, he plans to move to Washington, D.C.
