Jim Murray is the Founder and Chairman of the Presidential Precinct and is currently a board member of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company. He is a former managing general partner of Court Square Ventures and founding partner and chairman of Columbia Capital, which manages over $5 billion in venture funds. Since 1982, his work has focused on investment banking and venture capital in telecom and IT.
He has served as a director of more than 30 technology companies, including several that went public or merged into public firms, and chaired the Advisory Board of the Export-Import Bank of the United States. He is the author of Wireless Nation and holds a U.S. patent.
Murray has lectured at leading business schools and held numerous civic and leadership roles in Virginia, including Rector of both the University of Virginia and The College of William and Mary Board of Visitors. He holds degrees from UVA and William & Mary.
