About me
James is a venture capital investor with more than 12 years of experience working closely with early-stage companies. Before helping found VTC Ventures, a unique series of funds closely tied to Carilion Clinic and Virginia Tech focused on early-stage healthcare, deeptech, and food & ag companies, he worked in investment banking at Tyton Partners. This mix of early- through M&A-stage experience continues to inform how he thinks about capital structure, company / market positioning, and exit pathways for the startups he backs today.
VTC Ventures' portfolio reflects a deep commitment to healthcare and life sciences innovation, including companies like TearSolutions, CytoRecovery, Ordaos, Navion, Slate, Merand, Veralox, and BrainBox — alongside a broader portfolio of early-stage technology and deep tech companies.
