About me
Genny Freed is a third year from New York City, studying Political Philosophy, Policy & Law with a minor in General Business at UVA. Her primary involvement at UVA is the Honor Committee, where she serves as the Vice Chair for Sanctions and a representative for the College of Arts & Sciences. She joined Honor in the fall of her first year as a counsel, representing both students and faculty members in Hearings. Last spring, she was elected by the student body to serve as a representative and internally elected as the Vice Chair for Sanctions on the Honor Committee. As the Vice Chair for Sanctions, she oversees sanctioning panels and monitors students’ compliance with their sanctions. She has focused on implementing tailored, restorative sanctions and increasing support and resources for students involved in the case process. She believes that student self-governance is vital to the UVA community and is passionate about ensuring its longevity. Outside of the Honor Committee, she is an editor for the Virginia Undergraduate Law Review and a volunteer for CASH at Madison House, a free tax preparation organization serving the Charlottesville community.
