About me
Emily Smith is the founder of Side Nerd Apps, a company turning unstructured, real-world inputs (texts, conversations, quick updates) into structured, validated, system-ready data.
After years working in analytics and technology consulting, Emily saw the same problem everywhere. Organizations rely on portals, apps, and complex systems to collect information from employees, volunteers, and customers. Many people struggle to use them. The result is incomplete data, frustrated users, and expensive support calls.
Side Nerd Apps replaces those systems with simple text-based workflows. Instead of filling out forms or logging into portals, people can send a message and receive guided prompts that turn conversations into structured, usable data.
The platform powers tools like Link Lead for event lead capture, MediMatch for Medicare support, Ither for volunteer tracking, and Ask Frank for employee benefits questions.
Emily is building the company in Charlottesville, Virginia, with support from 434.co and the Lighthouse Network, with the goal of making technology easier for people and more useful for organizations.
