About me
Daniel Warren is a clean energy entrepreneur and systems thinker focused on advancing practical hydrogen infrastructure in the United States. He graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Integrated Science and Technology and began his career at the intersection of ecology, land use, and policy — co-owning Collicello Gardens and successfully leading an ordinance amendment in Harrisonburg to enable market gardens, an early example of aligning regulatory frameworks with sustainable enterprise. These experiences shaped a career-long instinct for translating systems thinking into real-world impact.
In 2020, Daniel began developing a patent-pending electrolyzer architecture designed to improve efficiency, gas separation reliability, and manufacturability in hydrogen production systems. He founded Helix Hydrogen, Inc. in 2021, building modular electrolyzer systems for green and pink hydrogen applications. Through Helix Hydrogen, he has advanced rapid prototyping, conducted deep market and customer discovery research, and engaged utilities, hydrogen hubs, and deployment partners to accelerate real-world integration. His work has been recognized through several leading Virginia innovation programs, including Startup Shenandoah, SPARK VA — where he received an award from the Dominion Energy Innovation Center — graduation from the Virginia SBDC's ICAP program, and a Launch Grant award from the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation. He is currently a participant in the RAMP IR clean tech accelerator, deepening strategic connections across the Virginia innovation ecosystem. Daniel is honored to bring Helix Hydrogen's story to the Tom Tom Festival, joining a community of innovators committed to building a more resilient and equitable future. His current focus spans hydrogen system performance, regulatory readiness, and scalable manufacturing pathways, with particular interest in the role hydrogen can play in distributed energy systems, modernized methane infrastructure, and resilient microgrid deployment.
