About me
Andria McClellan is a former elected local official, community volunteer, and entrepreneur. Raised by a single mom in Virginia Beach, she was taught the value of hard work early in life and worked her way through high school and college. Upon graduating from UVa, Andria began her career in sales and marketing, working for two Fortune 500 companies. After attending Wharton, she discovered her passion as an entrepreneur. Andria played a leading role in two start-up ventures where she developed a personal understanding of the challenges faced by small businesses.
Taking a break from her professional career, Andria dedicated her time to raising her three boys with her husband Mike, while helping others in the community, serving on various boards and commissions and raising money for organizations and causes in need. During that time, she also became a leader in the areas of civics and politics. She now serves on the boards of UVA's Center for Politics, the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership and the Southside Network Authority. She has received gubernatorial appointments to serve on the Virginia Small Business Advisory Board, the Family & Children's Trust Fund, and the Chesapeake Bay Commission's Local Government Advisory Committee. In 2016, she successfully ran for a Superward seat on the Norfolk City Council, defeating a 16-year incumbent in her election. She concluded her service in 2024, after representing 125,000 constituents as Councilmember, while also serving on the boards of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, Hampton Roads Transit, the CIVIC Leadership Institute and the Elizabeth River Trail Foundation.
Andria continues to focus on innovation and smart-city technology to improve the lives of others. Combining her knowledge and experience in tech, transportation and local government, she launched Oculus Rail in 2024 to address an issue plaguing many communities: blocked rail crossings.
