About me
Akshita Tiwari is a second-year computer science student at the University of Virginia, public speaker, and entrepreneur working at the intersection of engineering, entrepreneurship, and access. She is the co-founder of qMe Quantum Computing, a global education venture that has helped more than 300 students, from first graders to university engineering students, learn and conduct research in quantum computing. Through qMe, she has raised over $15,000 to support girls’ STEM education in India and healthcare initiatives in Uganda. qMe’s work has been featured on NBC4 Washington, NBC29 Charlottesville, and The Quantum Insider, and Akshita’s independent research on quantum computing in healthcare has been published through IEEE. She is also the author and illustrator of The Magic Behind the Quantum ABCs, a children’s picture book designed to make science feel approachable and inclusive from an early age.
In 2025, Akshita became the youngest keynote speaker in the 20+ year history of the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council Gala, where she spoke on innovation and emerging technology through quantum metaphors. She has since shared her work on stages including CBIC Tech Tours, the OpenNLP AI Symposium, MIT’s Undergraduate Research Technology Conference, and Harvard Education Press’ Catalyst Co-Labs, and was featured as one of Virginia Business’ Top 100 People to Meet in 2026. She also builds Proco, a mentorship platform backed by the UVA Darden School of Business, focused on making professional connections more meaningful and inclusive. Across all her work, Akshita is a strong advocate for early technology education, mentorship, and equity, especially for women of color.
