Civic leadership is not something people grow into later in life—it is already being practiced by students and young people across our community. From organizing peers to advocating for change and building bridges across differences, the next generation is actively shaping the civic landscape today. This roundtable brings together student and youth leaders alongside adults who mentor, support, and collaborate with them. Participants will share their experiences leading initiatives, navigating institutions, and creating opportunities for young people to participate meaningfully in civic life. This session highlights how youth leadership is emerging across campuses and communities, including in places like University of Virginia and throughout Charlottesville. Together, participants will explore what it takes to cultivate the next generation of civic leaders—and how communities can better support their ideas, energy, and vision.
