Founded in Richmond, VA in 2020 by John Hulley, Pay Rent Brass Band began as a way to make rent and quickly became a force of its own.
Forged in the streets and dark bars of Richmond, Pay Rent is a tight six-piece brass band that never takes itself too seriously. One moment the audience is dancing to Destiny’s Child, the next they’re belting out The Circle of Life.
Known for their love of video game music, Pay Rent brings the same intensity and care to their gaming sets as their pop, brass, and Latin staples. Their Sonic the Hedgehog set showcases a deep respect for the medium, while their Mega Man 3 show proves that brass playing can be just as technically demanding as the games that inspired it.
